Keep your Parts out of the Chip Pan

Have you ever parted off a small bushing and have it fly into your chip pan and then spent the next 10 minutes looking for it? While it may serve to remind you to clean the chip pan more often, sifting through a bunch of oily, sharp swarf is not an enjoyable way to spend your shop time.

Keep your Parts out of the Chip Pan

The photos show my method of keeping my hands out of the chips. I simply put a small rod into the tailstock mounted drill chuck and advance it until the rod enters the bore. Keep a few pieces of small rod handy, follow this quick and easy tip and your hunting days will be over!
